For many Oxford Chemists, the Part II experience (which has had a very similar format for nearly 100 years) is very much the jewel in the crown of the Oxford Chemistry Course. You will have the opportunity to engage your mind, and use the knowledge and understanding of Chemistry you have developed, to carry out research that may be at the cutting edge of the field. You will develop new skills and qualities that should stand you in good stead for whatever direction your life takes beyond this year. And, as with all things in life, what you get out of this experience will depend on how much you are prepared to commit to it – so we hope that you immerse yourself fully in the excitement of ‘real research’ and above all have an enjoyable and productive year.
