The University of Oxford and GSK are offering fourth year chemistry students the opportunity to complete an Organic Chemistry Part II project in GSK laboratories in Stevenage.
Students will be co-supervised by an industrial supervisor from GSK and an academic supervisor from the University of Oxford. The projects will be closely aligned with the research interests of both supervisors, and will typically target the development of new methodological strategies for the synthesis of pharmaceutically relevant structures.
The projects will be carried out at the GSK Research and Development site in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, during Oxford Part II term dates. Students will also be invited to attend an Industrial Placement Induction in Bristol on 29th August-1st September.
Completing a Part II at GSK provides the opportunity to experience research in an industrial setting, while maintaining close ties with academic research at Oxford. Up to two positions are available for the year 2017/2018. The academic supervisors supporting these projects are Professor Timothy Donohoe and Professor Christopher Schofield. Please contact the academic supervisors to learn more and to discuss projects.
